Al’s Story

Al Nouri was born and raised in the Upper West Side of New York; he grew up exploring the streets of New York and came to experience the diverse cultures and traditions of the various communities in the city. The rich history and lush diversity of his hometown, paired with Al’s natural curiosity and constant hunger for learning, aided him in developing an aptitude for observing human behavior over the years.

Since early childhood, Al was enamored with cinema and watched movies religiously, building a vast library of favorite films and performances. Over years of watching his favorites and constantly exploring for new additions to his library, Al developed a keen ability for mimicry and replicating the actors he constantly watched and so admired. Since then, Al began exploring the rich history and traditions of acting during his early teens by obsessively studying and curating an extensive collection of books, articles, interviews, publications and documentaries; the more he engrossed himself in learning about the theories and techniques behind this art form he so admired, the greater his passion grew for acting, ultimately falling in love with the craft some years later when having begun performing. Al’s acting heroes and greatest inspirations include Sir Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, Dame Judi Dench, Gene Hackman, Dame Helen Mirren, Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman to name a few.

Al was accepted at, and attended for a number of years, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts prior to his family relocating to California in his senior year. He has since studied and trained in the craft at Sarah Lawrence College, which he graduated from in the spring of 2021. During his tenure there, Al had the privilege of undergoing a wholistic and interdepartmental education that allowed him to develop a versatile and strong foundation across the different iterations and facets of storytelling; more specifically, Al had the good fortune of supplementing his acting training with studies in playwriting, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, dramaturgy and voice-over as well.

In his free time, Al is a devoted and passionate Blues guitarist, since having taught himself to play at the age of fourteen. Having always been somewhat of an old soul, he revels in the music and cinema of the past, drawing inspiration from them to shape and instill in his own style and craft.
